Vessel Assist San Diego Salvages Two Boats After Fire Rips Through Them

Once again faulty wiring looks to be the cause of another boat fire. This one was at the Lowes Coronado Marina. A 55’Cabin Cruiser and a 45’ Trawler were burned beyond repair Thursday night. Vessel Assist San Diego deployed an 8 man crew with two boats and two truckloads of equipment, to secure and remove the first boat, a 45’ Trawler. The second boat, a 55’ Cruiser was sunk after it burned to the decks. The night before, Coronado Fire Department responded in full force, keeping water on the fire from land. The new, million dollar San Diego Harbor fire/police boat, was put into real action and performed as expected. Vessel Assist San Diego Busy During First Winter Storm of the Season

The first major winter storm sinks several boats while flooding local streets. It was reported that over 8 inches of rain fell in areas of San Diego flooding several roads and business. Vessel Assist San Diego Upgrades Fleet

Over the last two years Vessel Assist Has added a new boat to the fleet each year. In 2008 Vessel Assist Chula Vista was built. The new 28′ rigid hull inflatable capable of 45 knots was thrown into action as the Primary Rescue 21 test vessel. Used only part time as a tow boat Vessel Assist Chula Vista performed as a backup vessel during the busy season while not running all over the ocean testing. Vessel Assist Chula Vista has a full complement of electronics with a redundant back up. The primary system is the Garmin 4212 and 5212 units with Duo Depth and radar. Continue reading →

Vessel Assist raises 56′ yacht after it was dropped off of a delivery ship

What should have been a basic delivery of a brand new yacht on Saturday turned into a wild experience and a wreck removal from the depths of San Diego Bay. Around 10:30 am on June 27, 2009 the “Vessel Assist Shelter Island” was on its way to the 10th Ave Terminal to pick up a crew from the pier and deliver them to a new yacht that was just shipped in. Robert Butler, President of Vessel Assist San Diego, received a call from the delivery crew saying that the yacht was adrift and that they needed to be brought directly to it. Continue reading →
